SNOEZI -

The origin

Necessity is the mother of invention...

It is a well-known fact and yes, it was.

The love for my son gave rise to Snoezi.

How it all began

"

For a long time, I was looking for a comfortable "seat" for my son Neil. As he unfortunately had no trunk and head control at all, he was always dependent on a rehab buggy or a seat shell to achieve an elevated or seated position.

Cozy is different...

in some corner...

So I got a beanbag! Full of hope, I placed Neil in his new piece of furniture, which had found its place in a corner of the living room. And that's exactly how I soon felt... I made myself comfortable on the sofa while Neil squirmed around in some corner.

increased tone - guilty conscience...

Increased muscle tone on his part and a guilty conscience on mine spread and so it wasn't long before the beanbag flew out...

Neil should be able to sit comfortably with me on the sofa. Being aware of his surroundings is easier in an elevated position, which is why it has always been important to me to make this possible for him. Cuddling together, yes, watching a bit of a movie. Just being together.

let the challenge begin...

We tried several pads. Under the arms, under the legs, on the back, on the head... one sneeze was enough to make the position Neil was in unacceptable.

Not so easy if you can 't sit independently

And so Neil spent most of the day lying down again. It was pretty grueling and made him feel a bit more abnormal. Hey, but what is normal?

just lying down is more than stupid...

Especially because lying down all the time promotes pressure sores and restricts lung function.

Well, Neil's lung function was starting to deteriorate. Something had to change.

Instead of what felt like 17 cushions around the child, we had to have one whole thing - one that wouldn't slip and was naturally comfortable.

I had baking paper, some old fabric and a sewing machine.

Now make something of it!

I started to create a kind of pattern and cut the fabrics cut out the fabrics. I stretched a washing line across the living room to help me visualize the whole thing.

it works!

That's how I found out, that this "cushion" should have a lower center of gravity to prevent it from slipping.

Neil, a sewing machine and me

So I sewed the parts together, filled them and the prototype was ready for Neil to sit in! I was so incredibly amazed and grateful at the same time that my project was a success straight away and that it went off without a hitch. Otherwise Snoezi would never have been more than a thought.

Get a patent for it!

Yes! Honestly!

Thanks to the motivation of our world's best physiotherapist, I soon "made" such a positioning cushion for other children.

And out of the same motivation, I actually went to a patent attorney. This law firm supported me for 5 years with extremely personal commitment from every single employee.

I am very grateful for that.

Snoezi is nationally and internationally patented

Snoezi is now available in 4 sizes

The design is created according to your wishes

For many years, Neil was able to sit, perceive better or simply relax thanks to his Snoezi...

In May 2020, my beloved Neil passed away. He has gone on. And yet so much has remained. He allowed me to see the world with different eyes.
